The Caves of Steel

by Isaac Asimov — Reviewed on August 1, 2025

I finished reading this book earlier this month. The only other novel by Isaac Asimov that I read was I, Robot. This year I've been reading mostly non-fiction books related to IT, marketing and public relations. I did not realize just how much I needed a classic detective story in my life.

A compelling investigation of a murder takes place in a futuristic version of New York, with plenty of space for social commentary and biblical references. Though the book was written in 1953, many messages still ring true today.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this first installment in the Robots series, and would give it maybe 8/10 stars. I still haven't figured out a rating system to use for this site, but that will have to work for now.
